The background of this piece was the inspiration! They are siding boards from an old house in Cambria, CA, which was painted white, but when I went to pressure wash them, all the amazing blue came through and I felt it looked like clouds. The bird was cut out of a wood background, which I then tacked on different pieces of recycled brass & copper - choosing them all for their different patinas and puzzling them together to represent all that "she" has gone through. The quote is by Erin Hanson and I housed it in a plumbing nut with glass cut to fit.
