Creating these birds is a labor of love. I start first with a wood form, which I paint black. Then the fun begins: I cut up copper and brass sheeting, which I harvest out salvage yards and items I disassemble and then puzzle the pieces together, looking for the balance in the colors and textures. I tack those pieces onto the wood forms using small brass tacks. Then I add a plaque which Melissa stamps for me using squares of brass kick plates from old doors. Each one is unique to the metals I choose and measures approximately 8” across by 6.5” at her highest point and .5” deep and are signed by me, Jenny K.
The quote on this one is:
What if I fall? Oh but my darling, what if you fly?
