We have looked all over trying to find more backstory about this interesting piece and haven’t come up with much! We do know that it is super neat and something we’ve never seen before. It is a metal “Bra Daw” copy holder and is probably from the early 1900’s. It is adjustable and can raise 8” higher than what is shown here. I folded down the top to flat and then placed an antique “Fat Boy” lamp socket shell and wired it with a new switch & cardboard sleeve. The wire is twisted cloth covered and measures approximately 8’. The incandescent bulb is also included. It is a one-of-a-kind lamp and would do a wonderful job holding a book, framed photo, or, leave it as is and enjoy the interesting lettering! Perfect by a bedside, on a bookshelf, desk or anywhere else you want something unique.
Please note: Lamp wire is new stock used for rewiring electric lamps or to restore old lamps, fans, and radios. Twisted wire is a high quality 18 gauge / 2-wire cord, protected with rubber insulation and then covered with a cotton or rayon cloth. The wire is not UL Listed. Do not exceed a 60 watt bulb.
