Celebration of Craftwomen: Here we come! |

As many of you know, I was accepted in this year's Celebration of Craftswomen show at Fort Mason in San Francisco. To be surrounded by “the nation’s best female artisans and fine artists” is a huge honor for me. The show is two weekends (Nov 28 & 29 and December 5 & 6) and we’ll be there this weekend.
This show is the largest and most respected women’s crafts fair in the nation. I am especially honored to participate because of the good work they do for women and girls. Since its inception, the Celebration of Craftswomen has been a benefit for The Women’s Building, a multi-cultural community center where women and girls achieve self-sufficiency and pursue their dreams. Monies raised though the raffle, admission fees, and booth fees go to the organization. Programs offered by The Women’s Building include a free bilingual Spanish/English information and referral service, educational support for low-income adults, financial counseling, and community events that promote arts, culture, and discussion. The first women-owned community center in the U.S., the Women’s Building houses ten diverse community groups and has helped launch more than 160 women’s programs and initiatives in San Francisco.
I’ve been arting lots and lots and feel I have created some of my best pieces yet. The truck is all packed and ready to go and we’re heading out in a short bit. Melissa and Stacy will be there with me and I honestly can’t think of a better way to spend Thanksgiving Weekend.
Thanks to everyone for all your support, encouragement and friendship – it has meant more to me than you’ll ever know.

A peek at some of the new pieces for Celebration of Craftswomen |

We've been busy creating new pieces for the Celebration of Craftswomen show coming up in just a couple weeks! Here's a quick peek at a few:
I used an old wood type spacer and vintage brass hardware for this one. That great blue color is exactly the way we found it. The quote reads: "Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart."
This is a vintage baby shoe form with a vintage music holder.
The quote reads: "The first step towards greatness is to be honest."
Another shoe form with a cobbler's nail holding the quote:
"One who walks in another's tracks leaves no footprints."
Here's a cool Art Deco style trophy which I attached to a old brass base and placed it on a wooden foundry mold. A glass museum cloche will be placed over it.

This is the second one of these I've made and like the first one, it was the first thing sold at our occasional sale this past week.It's fashioned out of an old wire spool with just the perfect mix of rust and galvanized metal color and hangs from overhead.

Would you take a look at the charms we put together today! Stacy & Melissa stamped out many, many versions using old numbered chits - a little bit larger than a quarter - so the front of them says something fun and the backside has a random number. I'm leaning towards "Eat, Sleep, Junk" as my favorite. How about you?
We'll be selling these at the next Georgia Moon & JunkGirls Occasional Sale starting this Saturday, October 24. $10 each or three for $25.
